Simon Thoumire: Garvie Bagpipe Concerto (click here to download the concerto)

  1. Here's an mp3 of my bagpipe concerto for Scottish Smallpipes. It was first performed on 9th August 2007 at Glasgow's Piping Live Festival. The soloist is Dr Simon McKerrell, piano Harris Playfair, fiddles - Shona Mooney, Sarah Wilson. It is 3 movements. Here is a link to the programme notes.

  1. The Bonny Lass of Fisherrow/ Love in a Village/ The Ballachulish Walkabout (P/M John D. Burgess, MBE)
    The first two tunes come from Neil Gow’s Repository of the Dance Music of Scotland. The Ballachulish Walkabout is an amazing tune written by one of the best pipers Scotland will ever see. We had a lot of fun trying to translate these titles during a short German tour.
